First Post of 2020 - Happy New Year!
Hello everyone - I hope your year has started well!
The last couple of months have been really busy for me and one goal was to revamp my website, which is now here, thanks to the hard work of Liz and Marcus at Semidisposable.com.
I've posted a link to my violin playing on January First this year. My New Year's resolution in 2019 was to get lessons and learn to play, and I've practised everyday (except 2) since then, for around half an hour on average. So the video represents the result of quite a lot of hard work on my part, but more importantly, it sums up my attitude towards life.
The tune isn't perfect, but I've worked hard and done my best in the circumstances.
Practising wasn't always smooth or easy and sometimes I felt I was in a bit of a rut BUT I stuck with my belief that if you keep going and doing what you believe to be the right thing you'll get there in the end.
Believe it or not my violin hasn't always been welcome! I had a massive battle with the family to squeeze it into the car when we went on holiday and sacrificed half of my clothes to seal the deal.
Most people who play the violin in their fifties are at a much higher level than this, so I don't compare myself with them, I just compare myself to how I was doing this time last week, month or year - always remembering why I'm doing this As we grow, that is the only meaningful measure we can use and it gives us the best chance of achieving what we really want.
